Softball Softball Eliminated From Tournament

The South Florida softball team dropped their final regular season game on Saturday to the Louisville Cardinals. The Bulls fell behind early, and could not catch up for the rest of the game. Louisville scored a run in the first inning, and another in the second, from there, the Cardinals held on to the 2-0 lead.
The Bulls were held to only four hits, but left six runners stranded. The Bulls' best chance to score was in the third when, USF loaded the bases, but with two outs, the Bulls were unable to score the runs.
Louisville, scored in the first inning on a single by Kenzie Meisenburg, and a double by Melissa Jacobo. The Cardinals added to their lead in the second, scoring on three consecutive singles.
The loss ended the Bulls run at an automatic bid for winning the conference. Sunday, the Bulls will travel home, and get ready to watch the NCAA Selection show to see if they have earned an at large bid into the Regional Tournaments. The Bulls will look for the strength of their schedule to get them into the Region. The Bulls have played 12 teams that are currently receiving votes in the NFCA/USA Today top 25, beating 6 of those teams. The NCAA Selection Show will be aired on select Fox Sports Net affiliates on Sunday, May 13, 2001, at 8:30 pm. |
